Matt, known online as @Heretical_Astartes, is a Chaos painter whose love for Warhammer began with a single gift that spiraled into a lifelong passion. Originally from Scotland and now based in Zimbabwe, he’s built a thriving local hobby community while exploring the dark artistry and lore of the Warhammer universe.
Drawn to the decayed grandeur of the Death Guard, Matt’s work embodies his belief that imperfection and corruption can still be beautiful. Through his detailed, atmospheric paint style and grounded approach to creativity, he encourages others to embrace the chaos, learn through the process, and find joy in every brushstroke.
